Wood, plush, rope
How they’re made
Cut, sanded and dressed by hand.
The materials
Rope runs through the limbs so they bend and hold a pose, and flexible TPR means a horn or tail can survive being sat on. No batteries, no buttons, no screens.
The soft plush is 100% polyester for a cuddly feel and years of play. We’d love to use organic fabric, but it isn’t possible for our production yet.
From sketch to sample
Every new character starts with Lou. The design team at the factory turns the idea into drawings and a first sample, and it goes back and forth until it’s right. The faces are left blank until the end, because Lou draws the eyes on herself.
When I put the eyes on, that’s when I go, “Yep! Hello, little person.”
The making
Parts are turned by machine, then sanded, assembled and sewn by hand. Threading the limbs is the slow part, and the reason they still hold a pose years later. Every piece goes through a strict quality check before it’s packed.

Where they are made
Designed in Australia. Handcrafted in Vietnam, in a Japanese-owned and managed, solar-powered factory that specialises in high-quality wooden products. Our team spends time there regularly. We think of it as our second home.

Safety testing
Every Anamalz is independently tested: dropped, twisted, pulled and checked for everything from lead to formaldehyde. Test reports are by TÜV Rheinland Vietnam and available on request.
